Elon Law Review invites submissions for its 2024 Symposium -
The Doc Is In: Prescribing Treatment for the Health Crises Through the Legal System
Access to healthcare, the Opioid Crisis, mental health, environmental impacts–the law has come
to play an increasingly important role in the world of public health. This role continues unabated.
How will Big Pharma be impacted by judgments regarding the Opioid Crisis? What laws govern
the capture and disposal of “forever chemicals” and ensuring environmental public health? Can
the law help control health burdens caused by climate change? Will law firms adapt to mental
health research concerning the legal profession? Are there implications of antitrust laws in
hospital mergers? What is the impact of tribal self-governance on federal health care funds? The
Elon Law Review invites submissions for our Symposium exploring the intersection of law and
public health as a means to solve these challenges and more.
The Fall 2024 Symposium will be held on Friday, September 20th, 2024 with a reception the
evening before on Thursday, September 19th, 2024. The central topic of papers must revolve
around public health and the law. An abstract of the scholarly paper to be presented should be
submitted no later than Friday, March 22nd, 2024, to Chief Symposium Editor, Rebecca Iyoob, at
riyoob@elon.edu. Please attach a resume or CV to your submission. Accepted proposals will be
organized into symposium panels around the proposed themes. Final papers will be due by
Friday, June 28th, 2024, for both presentation at the Symposium and consideration for
publication in the Symposium issue of the 2024 Elon Law Review.
We look forward to reviewing your submissions!
