CALL
FOR SUBMISSIONS!
The San
Diego Law Review (SDLR) is soliciting essays and articles for the
Volume 60 Symposium Issue!
Call
for Submissions:
This year, the topic for the San Diego Law Review Symposium Issue is Reparations
and Transitional Justice. SDLR
invites submissions focusing on reparations or transitional justice, locally
and globally, and specifically encourages submissions that contribute to the
discussion on Black reparations in the United States and redress strategies.
This topic
is a product of current discussions in the United States regarding reparations
for Black Americans. Specifically in
California, the Task Force to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for
African Americans was charged with answering the following question: What does
California owe its Black residents? The
Reparations Task Force recently issued an Interim Report with policy
recommendations to the California Legislature.
As part of the Task Force staff, the California Department of Justice
researched and wrote the Interim Report. A final report will be issued in July 2023.
SDLR will provide preference to essays
and articles that address the California Reparations Task Force’s findings and
recommendations and that offer critiques and suggestions to the proposed
policies. This is an excellent
opportunity to contribute to the discussion on this historic event in
California.
Submissions
may not have been previously published or pending review with another journal.
Submission
Deadline and Review Process: Essays and articles 8,000 to
12,000 words with a minimum of 150 footnotes are strongly preferred. Longer submissions will also be
considered. Submissions are due by
December 18, 2022, at 11:59 PM PST, in Word Document format.
Essays and articles may be submitted through
Scholastica or e-mailed to usdjournals@gmail.com.
E-mail submissions must have the following subject line: “Reparations
and Transitional Justice Symposium Submission_[Essay/Article].” Please indicate the type of manuscript
accordingly.
SDLR will notify authors of selected
manuscripts by January 4, 2023.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
San
Diego Law Review,
